TONTO FUN RUN 2005 The runners were treated to a lush green landscape with plenty of running water this year. The weather ranged from 45-50 degrees with rain showers and hail midrace. There were additional steam crossings this year due to the increased rainfall earlier in the week. The trail was in good condition with the exception of the occassional mud and soft spots. The usual cat claw, rocks and cactus were present. The stream crossing ranged from ankle to waist deep, an added perk to this years run. The runners finished with smiles on their face, mud on their legs and numerous scratches from the foliage. All in all, another successful run. John Hughes finished first this year in record time, although there wasn't much time to chat as the rain was pouring down in buckets. Jamil Coury claimed second stating this was the longest distance he has run. Laura Nagy was the first female finisher. Thank you to Gary Culver and friend for manning the aid station second year in a row. The runners and I greatly appreciate that you take time out of your day to support the run. I want to thank all the runners that came out and braved the elements today. We will probably not see Tonto this green or the creek running this high for a long time to come.
