Dave Proctor holds yet another Canadian Men’s Open Record with his 72-hour total of 309.66 miles. This breaks Richard Lacouse’s 1881 record of 308.5 miles. Dave now has 330 miles in 76.5 hours and is moving better than even the hours leading up to this record with 11:30 lap splits. Ed Ettinghausen holds second with a more commanding gap on 3rd than last night with 262 miles. Iso Yucra is 3rd with 225 miles having taken a 10-hour break.
Annabel Hepworth has 224 miles in 76.5 hours and continues to hold the women’s lead. It’s the remainder of the podium that continues to shuffle. Edda Bauer is now 2nd with 190 accumulated miles and Martina Hausmann is now 3rd with 184.7 miles and no break longer than 2:19:01 (every other woman has taken at least a 6+ hour brea). Yolanda Holder has reached her 1,000th lifetime mile at Across the Years and is, unfortunately, out for the remainder of the event as she’s not feeling well.
In the 72-hour Scott Thompson has moved his way into 2nd place male with 158.5 miles and he still has 20 more hours to go and only needs 2 miles to overtake Brian Recore’s 160 mile 72-hour total. Melissa Soper for the ladies stopped at 200 miles leaving 6 hours on the clock before her time ran out. Amy Mower is motivated and has another 20 hours to go 25+ miles for the current top position.
The 48-hour has John Maroushek at 125 miles and gaining on the current top two men (Mark Dangerfield 146 miles and Davy Crocket 135 miles whose races are already complete). Misty Alessandri still has almost a day to go and is already in 1st place for the women with 111 miles and moving incredibly well around the course.
The 24-hour saw the bulk of its starter today so expect some shakeups later in the day as the race progresses. However, even with just a few hours done Adela Salt’s 129 miles looks safe at the moment.
