To celebrate the second year of Aravaipa's iconic 250-mile trail race, the Cocodona 250, we're bringing a slice of Arizona to you! Inspired by the week-long in-person event, the Cocodona Virtual Experience is your chance to rack up 250+ miles on your local trails or treadmill, starting the same day the in-person racers hit the trail. For our virtual runners, the party goes on all month, and then some. You'll have five weeks to log your total distance, with exciting milestones up for the taking along the way as you run virtually from Black Canyon City to Flagstaff, AZ.

This event is truly a journey unlike any other. Each week during the event, runners will be guided on their journey through the Cocodona 250 course by receiving a weekly email detailing sections of the course in roughly 50 mile sections. These check-ins will include photos from the race course, and produced video content, and more to help give you a fully immersive experience from wherever you are in the world.

A Journey Unlike Any Other

Along the journey runners will get to learn about the diverse landscape and history that Arizona has to offer. You will virtually traverse from Black Canyon City up into the Bradshaw Mountains, an area steeped in gold mining lore. Runners will immerse themselves in this rich mining history as they virtually pass through the historic mining town of Crown King before winding their way into downtown Prescott through the iconic row of Southwestern saloons known as Whiskey Row .

In conjunction with the rich cultural history, Arizona has very diverse geographical features. As runners continue along their adventure, they will climb out of the low Sonoran Desert and begin to adventure into the beautiful town of Sedona. Runners will be virtually immersed in a stunning mix of red rock formations, desert vistas, and soul quenching vortexes that truly showcase a unique portion of Arizona's geographical beauty.

The final stretch of this journey will take runners through the Coconino National Forest, home to the largest contiguous Ponderosa Pine forest in the world. Runners will get to virtually experience the beauty of the pines as they make their way up into the beautiful mountain town of Flagstaff. In the final miles of the journey, runners will be tasked with virtually climbing one of Flagstaff’s most iconic mountains, Mount Elden before finishing their adventure in downtown Flagstaff, just blocks away from the historic Route 66.

Win Prizes Every Week

Be sure to tune in each week to our @Cocodona250 Instagram Account Channel where we will be raffling off amazing prizes from Aravaipa Running, Aravaipa Virtual, Run Steep Get High, and more each and every week. To enter the raffle, participants must post their weekly mileage total under that week's contest post on our @Cocodona250 Instagram page. All runners who have completed at least 50 miles during the week will be entered into a drawing for some sweet prizes. Winners will be announced each week on Instagram!

In addition to our raffle prizes, every week during the course of the event will have a unique challenge. The weekly challenge will be sent out at the start of the week in the weekly runner email and will also be run through the @Cocodona250 Instagram Account. Participants will have the entire week to complete the challenge for their chance to win. Winners will be announced on Instagram at the start of the following week.

Participant Swag Bag

All participants in the Cocodona Virtual Experience this summer will receive a Cocodona Virtual Experience race packet via mail. Runners will receive a short-sleeve triblend t-shirt, an Adventure Awaits die cut sticker, and a handcrafted wooden medal designed by Aravaipa Artworx. In addition to the race pack, plenty of premium upgrades will be available for purchase including a Premium Award (designed by Aravaipa Artworx), a Cocodona race course medal holder, and a number of other amazing swag items! Registration includes domestic shipping fees. Additional fees and time for international shipping. Packets will ship starting May 23rd.
