Additional Restrictions
Update 2/2/2021: All runners have been emailed a notice of additional restrictions for the Black Canyon Ultras 2021. In compliance with the current health order by Yavapai County Department of Health and Development Services, the Black Canyon Ultras will adhere to additional restrictive mandates in order to operate the 2021 event.
Restrictions include:
- No Runner Expo: Bib pickup at Aravaipa HQ & Start line race day
- No Spectators: Start line @ Mayer HS is drop off only
- Staggered Arrivals & Wave Starts
- No Crews within Yavapai County (Bumble Bee & Black Canyon City)
These restrictions will be detailed in the 2021 Runner Guide released 2/5/2021/
We understand if these additional restrictions may not meet your expectation of the Black Canyon Ultras. Runners who do not wish to run this version of Black Canyon may still defer 100% to 2022 or receive 100% registration credit that may be applied to any future Aravaipa race.
If you wish to withdraw and defer or receive credit, please email info@aravaiparunning.com.
Update 1/13/21 Invitations to waitlisted runners have expired. Registration is now open with limited spots remaining.
Update 1/4/21 We have received the green light for this event and look forward to seeing you in February!
Waitlisted runners will be invited off the waitlist in order of registration: first come first serve. Upon receipt of the invitation, runners will have one week to confirm entry or their spot will go to the next in line. Please be sure to check all spam and junk folders.
The 2021 event will host the 100K distance on Saturday, February 13th, and the 60K on Sunday, February 14th. Race start times will be adjusted to account for wave starts for both the 100K and 60K distances. These wave starts will consist of no more than 50 people per wave spread out on the track, starting in 15-minute increments. Masks, a wellness check, and social distancing will all be required. We will post the assigned wave times for runners as we near the race. Waves will be determined by projected finish times in order to better spread the field and reduce passing on course.
Elite Runners: If you intend to compete for the 2021 Western States Golden Tickets you must be in the first waves of the 100K race. Spaces are limited and not guaranteed. Please fill out the form HERE for consideration.
