"We are One Intel, which makes us the foundation of Intel at Ocotillo. Ocotillo is our family, neighbors, and our community."
Derived from one of the core values of Intel, OTF is bringing a summer challenge and virtual event to connect OTF employees and their families.
ONE Intel invites employees to run, walk, hike, or bike in our first ever Intel Family Virtual Event. OTF has partnered with Aravaipa Running, a local trail running community in Arizona, to provide employees and their families an opportunity to participate in this fun, interactive, and social virtual event. This week-long challenge allows employees the flexibility to complete their selected distance at a time that works for them. With multiple distances to choose from, ONE is ideal for everyone of every experience level.
This custom event encourages families and friends to create teams, challenge each other to achieve a goal, and celebrate with each other as you each cross the finish line!
Our goal is to motivate our OTF family to move toward health and wellness this summer, and more to inspire unity in our company as we move forward together.
We invite you all this summer to join ONE and have fun at this Intel Virtual Event, powered by our amazing family at OTF!
What Is A Virtual Race?
A Virtual Race is like a traditional race but it takes place in a location and time of your choice. You can walk, jog, or run wherever you may be, and at any time during race week for your chosen distance.
Choose Your Place
The great thing about a virtual run is you choose the venue; your favorite park, a tour of downtown, around your neighborhood block, or a new trail you've always wanted to try. This is where you get to be creative. Runners can choose where they start and finish whether it be on road, trail, or treadmill. Wherever and however you want to run the distance, be creative and have fun!
Choose Your Race
Just like registering for a traditional race, you choose the distance that best suits you. Aiming for that first 5K--then grab your friends and go! Challenge your family to a fun summer 10K! Choose your preferred distance below!

Pro Tips for Summer Running
The summer in the southwest can be harsh and planning any outdoor activity can be daunting if you're not prepared for the extreme heat. Here are some best practices shared from runners at Aravaipa Running who train and run events throughout the summer in Arizona.
DRINK UP
Hydration is key! Make sure you are hydrated before race day and continue to hydrate regularly along the course of your run.
WET N' WILD
Water is good not only in but on your body. Keeping yourself cool by pouring water directly on your skin, your clothes, and on your head will activate evaporative cooling. This is an effective way to keep your body temperature down.
BLOCKED
Sunscreen is your friend. If you're running outside during the day you'll most likely be exposed to the sun. The key is to apply and reapply during your run. For most sunblock, you need to apply 20 minutes before going outside reapply sunblock at least every two hours or more.
ICE ICE BABY
If you utilize ice during a heated run, the best place is on your head, under a hat, or around your neck. Do not consume ice or ice water on a hot day. Consuming cold water or ice while running in the heat may cause abdominal cramping, nausea, and dehydration.
DOME LOVE
Shade your dome. Protect your head, face and neck as you run. Wear a hat or head wrap that covers not only your head but shades your face. Consider additional gear like a head wrap or buff around your neck--this can also be used to carry ice or dunk it in water to keep you cool.
SKIP IT
The great thing about running a virtual race is you can choose your ideal time frame. If you're worried about running in the heat, consider a pre-dawn run or try a night run with your family after the sun goes down, allowing for a cooler summer run.
