Montrail Ultra Cup

The 2015 Black Canyon 100K will be part of the Montrail Ultra Cup. The top two (2) female and top two (2) male finishers will automatically qualify for entry into the Western States 100 event. In the case that the first, or second place participant is already in Western States (or decides to opt out), the automatic bid will slide to third place, fourth place, and subsequently down to fifth place as needed (no places below fifth will be accepted). There will also be a “last chance” slot selected by lottery for one finisher of the race who was not selected in the general Western States 100 lottery this past December.

About Montrail: Serving as the trail running authority since 1993, Montrail distributes its products through specialty outdoor, running and sporting goods retailers throughout the United States and over 30 countries worldwide. Montrail is committed to delivering innovative performance footwear with outstanding runability for the New Breed of Runner.
It’s our intimate knowledge of the biomechanics of running that leads us to explore innovative designs, construction methods and materials that excel on a variety of surfaces.
About Mountain Hardwear: Mountain Hardwear was founded in 1993 by a small band of outdoor industry iconoclasts. They saw the industry changing, compromising quality and dumbing down products to serve less technical users. Mountain Hardwear was founded to buck this trend in order to stay true to the needs of outdoor athletes.
Over the last 20 years, our independence and willingness to do things differently has driven innovation in outdoor apparel and equipment. You’ll see more Mountain Hardwear expedition tents on 8,000 meter peaks than any other brand. From the first taped soft shell jacket to the first tent with 180° views, our products combine cutting edge materials technology with unconventional design solutions.

In 1985 Ultimate Direction invented the entire category of hydration packs. They designed the first waist pack designed to carry bottles, a few years later created the first pack/strap to carry a water bottle in your hand, and made numerous other innovations that helped define what a hydration pack is today.
Now 30 years later they are at the forefront again, having created and popularized the “vest” concept for carrying water, featuring no-bounce comfort and the ability to easily access bottles in the front. Now they are introducing the very first women’s-specific line of hydration packs, and have updated the whole product line with new technical fabrics, streamlined design, and contemporary colors.
